Thrilled, happy, relax, and blessed! That is how I’ve been feeling lately.  We moved back to South Carolina, almost three weeks ago, and I immediately noticed a change in the environment.  My skin started feeling a lot better, almost zero itching, and the spots on my legs are slowly disappearing.

I know I am taking medication for the disease, but, when you have it you can tell what the medicine is doing for you. My doctor changed me to Embrel because Humira just stopped working on me.  It was a blessing in disguise.  All the months I used Humira my white cells were very high (not good) and as soon as I started the Embrel, my white cells count was normal, so it was a win-win situation.

So whether is the new medicine on its own or a combination of a change in the environment I am super happy that the psoriasis is under control.  South Carolina is a place I love, second to Puerto Rico, of course.  So, I think that the fact that I’m back to SC,  makes me feel at ease, comfortable and happy.  Psoriasis has been known to be a problem that aggravates itself with stress, so been in SC has my stress levels very, very low.

To all the people out there suffering from this horrible disease please find a way to channel your emotions.  I noticed that if I control the stress I control the flares.  Alcohol is another trigger, I used to drink white wine once a week or so, now, I still enjoy a drink or two…but very seldom, just on special occasions.  One thing I read is that eating healthy can also make a big difference in one’s life.  I have yet to change my eating habits, but it is on my list of things to do…soon.
