Bratwurst My Way

I like to cook my way…which sometimes is not the traditional way. How do you normally eat your Bratwurst?  Usually on a bun!  Well, I like thinking about other, easy ways to cook Bratwurst. So, here I am sharing a simple recipe I love to pair with either mashed potatoes or white rice.  The recipe takes only 30 minutes and the flavors are spot on! Give it a try!

Here are the steps:

The first think I do is take the Bratwurst out of the casing. Then, slice the Bratwurst diagonally. Set aside.

Once the Bratwurst is prep, I minced one clove of garlic and add it to a pan with some olive oil.

As soon as the garlic start showing some browning, I add the Bratwurst. Then add salt and pepper and red pepper flakes to taste (about a tsp of each). Let it cook, uncovered.IMG_1202

Once the Bratwurst is browned, then you add the sliced onion and green peppers. Let it cook for about 5 minutes at medium-low heat, uncovered.

IMG_1203The onions and pepper will cook down, then your dish is done!  That simple! The picture below shows the final product.  Tonight, I am pairing my Bratwurst with white rice, simple and delicious, home-cook meal for my family.

For me the cooking is a way to demonstrate love. I love cooking for my family and friends. Simple yet very rewarding meals and desserts.
