Today, as I drove home…

Portrait of a homeless man ~ Look at the depth of emotion in his eyes....:

…I stop at the gas station to fill the tank…and as soon as I look up I noticed, what appeared to be an indigent pushing a baby stroller with blankets and other items.  I continued to stare…as I stare, I realized how cold it was…

How can we have people, in the United States of America, homeless, suffering through terrible conditions such as 30 degree weather? How can we justify spending millions of dollars in political campaigns, in other countries, in so many frivolous programs…yet, we cannot take care of the people who live in this land. How do the “BEST COUNTRY” in the world, allow that? How do we, as a human race, allow our government to get away with that?

We complaint, it’s our human nature, we are ungrateful, we always want more…I am guilty of all that! When I looked at that homeless person my heart skipped a beat. It was so cold…so windy…getting dark…and I knew that person would not have a warm place to sleep tonight. Is images like that the ones that tear my heart to pieces, what validates how screwed up this world is…how bad we are, how little we do for others…

Tonight, I will pray for those in need, I will pray that the world becomes a better place, I will pray that people find it upon their hearts to help the less fortunate.  I will pray and I will do my part…I will become a more aware person…I will finds ways to help the less fortunate. Helping is as easy as smiling at someone who has not receive a smile in a long time. Helping is hugging a stranger, buying someone’s lunch, donating to the local shelters…becoming aware of what is happening around us…becoming aware…spread the world and do something…today is them, tomorrow can be all of us or our loved ones. Just think about it…

  1. Boy do I get you on this post! It’s such a struggle seeing how tough it is for people in this country. And it truly disgusts me the things that we, as a general rule, pay attention to that are really Really REALLY unimportant. And the amount of financial waste and pushing and shoving and general disconnectedness we have as a society. Makes me mad…makes me sad….
