Recently and for the first time ever I decided to be a stay at home mom. It was a decision I made in an attempt to make everyone’s life easier at home. I have succeeded! Little did I know that I would end up my days sore as hell and tired beyond belief!!! Keeping up a house while caring for your teenagers is no easy task.
First of let me say that having two teenagers at home is a blessing and a curse. I adore my children…but man are they lazy!!!! They are lovely kids, they have a great heart…but they sleep most of the day and stay up almost all night…therefore…they offer no help whatsoever when it comes to assisting with the daily chores.
My day starts around 9AM…I drink a cup of coffee and then I try to browse the net and check on my blogs and fellow bloggers. Then, I look around…I see what needs immediate attention. After tidying up the inside of the house, running the washer and dryer…I decided to uncluttered the countertops…that was tedious and time-consuming but worth it…then I step outside and I refill the bird feeders, organize outside and water my plants. Is about 2PM by the time I am done with those simple tasks.
After getting a bite, I decide whether I need to clean the floors or not. Whether I have to dust or not, etc. Another nuisance of being a stay at home mom, is that you start thinking about those tasks that you do, maybe, every 6 months or so. Like today, I had to clean my oven…and boy do I hate cleaning an oven…all the scrubbing and bending over gets old super quick with me, but, I got it done. I even became smarter and purchase a mat to put at the bottom of the oven to catch any spills (don’t know why I didn’t get it sooner!)
Then is about 4PM…dinner time…9 times out of 10…I plan, in my head, what’s for dinner the night before. So, I knew I was making my husband’s favorite a Dorito’s casserole. I browned the meat then sat it to the side and asked my hubs to text when he was about 15 minutes from home. He sent me a text and dinner was done by the time he was home…success!!
We ate, then as soon as we finished…I stood up and starting cleaning the kitchen, granted, today my daughter did help…but usually that is a task is left to be done by mom…after the kitchen is clean…is about 7-8PM…and I am pooped!!!! Get up every day and pretty much do the same sort of thing…with the variations of going to the grocery store…taxi for the kids…etc.
I have no idea how I managed to keep my house clean, cook dinner, and have a full-time job all those years. Don’t get me wrong…I am going back to work…just not quite yet…its unbelievable. So, to all those thinking low about the mothers who decide to stay at home caring for the house and the family…trust me when I say…is not an easy task!!!by
