Midlife Crisis - Signs and Advice

Midlife crisis? Maybe…

My hair has been long, for as long as I can remember and although I love my curls and my length…I wanted to try out something different.  Well, I decided to cut and change the color of my hair…I was not looking for a drastic change, just for a little update (I guess).

So, I knew I wanted some dark red, like a dark maroon color…and I wanted to cut quite a few inches of hair.  A week ago, I venture into this fancy looking salon, and I explained…even showed a picture of the color I was looking for!!!  Long story short…drastic change it was…

So, I am OK…I know how to style and manage my hair…but after that color and cut I was a little bit in shock…the whole experience was not a good one…I spent 5 long ass hours at the salon, getting my hair bleached (for the 1st time ever) and neither the color or the cut was what I wanted.

So, I waited a couple of hours, then decided that the fire-red was not for me…so I went to the store and got me some box color…in an attempt to make the red darker.

So, a little darker but not much…I decided to embrace the red, everybody at work loves it…the kids are getting use to it…and the husband, well, the husband knows that I will let my hair grow and back to its natural color after this experience.

A few days went by…and I was becoming frustrated with the style of the cut, I love layers, and I did not have hardly any layers. So, Tuesday, I decided to try a new hair salon. There I met this old, old, old lady…Mrs. Barbara…who was brave enough to tackle my hair.  I just wanted layers…nothing else…so, she washed the hair, and listened to my hair ordeal, and she mentioned that the color was good, but that it was going to fade…I told her…that its OK…just give me some layers….so after the layers…

I felt better…

Today, I am looking at my hair…and I cannot believe that I had the nerve to cut my hair…I mean, let’s face it…hair is hair…it will grow again (I hope)…and in the mean time I will love me, like I always do…and style my hair like I always do…I will make it darker…one trip to the salon at a time…lol…
