It’s been 9 days since we adopted “Lucky”, I must say she has been a blessing in disguised. I did not know how sad I was, alone at home, I was angry, but I didn’t know I was also sad.
Lucky is so full of personality, she is silly, adventurous, love the outdoors and also loves her crate, she likes to eat out of the cats’ bowl and she still struggles getting along with the cats. She is pretty much potty trained, she has had a couple of pee-accidents inside the house, but those were her crazy humans not paying attention. Lucky sleeps in her crate at night, and she does not make a sound!!!
Lucky struggles eating out of her bowl, we have tried different bowls, like ceramic, metal, deep, flat and she still struggles. She likes to eat out of my hand or if you actually put the food on the floor. I cant help but wonder if she was fed that way while on the animal shelter. We are not giving up, and we continue to teach her to ear from the bowl. We have seen a little progress, not much.
Yesterday was a holiday, Columbus Day, so, my son and I took Lucky to the park for the first time. We have to keep her on a leash, and that takes some of the fun away, but she still enjoyed the scenery. She was going from tree to tree smelling around, she was able to walk across a bridge and she interacted well with the children that asked to pet her. Lucky even got her little legs wet!!! Yes, there is a pond in the park filled with ducks and geese. She got scared by the geese when they were close to the walking path, but once the geese was gone, Lucky decided to try out the water. As soon as I saw her trying to swim, I got her out, this mama was not ready to let her swim.
Overall, Lucky has brought a lot of happiness to my soul. She comes to me, she likes to be petted by me and she makes me smile. It’s amazing what a dog can do for you!!!! Here are some of the photos we took at the park.
