Multi-tasking

This afternoon I am taking a break to talk about multi-tasking.  I struggled with people that can only do one thing at a time.  To be honest I don’t even know how the hold a job, or parenting or life in general.  If you think back to, let’s say the 80’s (for those that are my age), people were so lay back.  I remember seeing my grandfather take a nap in the middle of the day.  He hung a hammock in the back of his mini-market and he would nap.  He was happier after the nap (power nap, perhaps).  I wonder if people still do that in Latin countries.

Typing, talking on the phone, and listening/answering to my supervisor are such an everyday thing.  It’s the norm for me.  I am comfortable with that.  Then, you have the co-workers (I love them) that cannot do but one thing at a time.  I am not judging nor am I criticizing, I just think is odd 🙂

Anyways, can you multi-task? If so, does it aggravate you when someone else can’t? I am just curious…that is all 🙂

I think that in today’s world, multi-tasking is a requirement.  In order to accomplished the mission, in a timely manner you must multi-task. Perhaps being afraid of making errors keeps some employees from multi-tasking.  For me, it’s a learned skill, the more you do it the better you get at it.  We all make mistakes, so lose the fear or making mistakes (you can go back and correct your mistakes) and you will get better at multi-tasking, your work performance is going to gain some brownie points and you will feel accomplished J and part of the “so-called productive work force”.
